S-P-O-O-K-Y

Witches flying past on broomsticks,
Black cats leaping here and there,
White-robed spooks on every corner,
Mournful moaning in the air,

Goblins peering out of windows,
Spirit-things that rap and run--
But don’t be scared—it’s just October,
Having one last hour of fun!!

Tim Holtz Creative Exploration of the Caribbean

Hi, everybody!  I hope you are having a fabulous day!  It is a little chilly here, perhaps a little taste of the coming winter.  Missouri is a beautiful state this time of the year.  Yesterday I spent an incredible day driving around and looking at the beautiful fall colors.

I just finished taking photos of the creative projects we did with Tim Holtz on the Caribbean cruise recently.  I thought you might like to see them as well.  It was truly a trip of a life time, and I shall never forget it.

Here is my take on the configuration tray.  I have done one before and love using the tissue tape but thought I might try doing something a little different with it.  It may not even show, but instead of wrapping the tissue tape directly to the edges  like I did on the first tray I made, I decided to wrap the tape on 1/4" strips of bass wood. I cut the tissue-covered strips to fit,  and then glued them over the edges on the tray.  I then inked over everything like I normally do.  Then I added lots of shells, sand and other goodies I had.  The images in some of the backgrounds are from Graphic 45 "On the Boardwalk" Collection.

Close ups of each section of the tray . . . .
Tim is so clever with this idea.  We created a little mini album in one of the largest boxes in the configuration tray.

The word "sand" is from the wood letters that Tim gave us.  I applied Glossy Accents to each letter and sprinkled sand on top.  I let them dry and glued them standing up.

Background is a Florida map showing Port Canaveral where our port was.

I took a close-up of the seahorse so you could see the details.  I got it recently from a friend.  It is a beautiful piece of jewelry and perfect for this tray.

I loved  making this!  I decided to put it in my configuration tray, so changed out the inside to go with the theme of the box.   I used an image from the Graphic 45 "On the Boardwalk" collection for the background, some sand and tiny shells.  The "create moments" is from the Tim Holtz stamp "Stuff to Say" from Stampers Anonymous.

The is the gate-fold pocket journal/album that we made.  I still have some photos and memorabilia to add to it yet.  I will show you the rest of it in a few days.

What an intriguing bangle we have here. Its center stone a truly nicely vivid green colored emerald and flanked by three-dimensional crafted human heads in gold. A typical product of the French Haute Joaillerie (highest quality jeweler's craftmanship) presented in a box by Bapst & Falize. Click the picture to read more about it.

Autumn Scene

Upon the hills the giant trees
with color were ablaze,
Like smoke from smoldering embers
rose the last October haze.
All silent and magnificent
I fancied I could see
The Master Artist
touching up some solitary tree,
But the glory of the landscape
was a flash of crimson flame
At the bottom of the picture
where the painter signs his name.

Now I cannot speak the language
of the men who paint and draw,
And with technical precision
can’t describe the scene I saw.
All I know is that a picture
was unrolled for me to see,
And the highlights and the shadows
seemed just what they ought to be.
But the gorgeous burst of color
in the foreground caught my eye,
And I knew it made the landscape,
though I couldn’t say just why.

It struck me as peculiar,
where an earthly painter signs,
The Master Artist splashed His name
in tangled shrubs and vines.
And as I stepped up closer
I discovered and was glad
He had given that touch of splendor
to the poorest stuff He had.
To the common things in summer
which man scarcely sees at all
He had given the place of honor
and the glory of the fall.

Natural orient pearl necklace! Rare!

Natural orient pearl necklace
Rare!

Original Belle Epoque natural orient pearl necklace with diamond closure from the antique jewelry collection of Adin Antique Jewelry, Antwerp, Belgium

In contrary to cultured pearls, the most valuable pearls occur spontaneously in the wild, but they are extremely rare. These wild pearls are referred to as natural pearls.

The finest quality natural pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries, and because of this, the word pearl has become a metaphor for something very rare, fine, admirable, and valuable.

We are proud to have some real natural pearl necklaces in our collection and we invite you to take a look at them.

Tim Holtz Creative Exploration of the Caribbean

I will probably never quit talking about this cruise {grin}, so be prepared.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE PHOTOS OF THE CRUISE, THEY ARE HERE: Remembering Today.

I participated in a charm swap put together by Liz Thogersen, Liz collected all the charms before the cruise from the 31or so participating and had them all ready for us at the Welcoming party the first night of the cruise.  I thought you might enjoy seeing them.  Each charm had to be made with something from Tim Holtz products and finished with a lobster claw clasp.

I made a few of these to give away.

Above are a couple of charms I sent in for the swap.  I did an assortment using something of Tim's, shells, and beads.  On some I used a Florida map (2nd photo) to make a paper bead.
