This ring is made around 1910 in a style that is known as "The Belle Époque". The Belle Époque (French for "Beautiful Era") was a period in European social history that began during the late 19th century and lasted until World War I.

Occurring during the time of the French Third Republic and the German Empire, the "Belle Époque" was named in retrospect, when it began to be considered a "golden age" the major powers of Europe, new technologies improved lives and the commercial arts adapted Renaissance and eighteenth-century styles to modern forms.

In the newly rich United States, emerging from the Panic of 1873, the comparable epoch was dubbed the Gilded Age. In the United Kingdom, this epoch overlaps the end of what is called the Victorian Era there and the period named the Edwardian Era.

Remember to Take Your Diamonds Off!

Are you ready to buy loose diamonds online? Those who know where to buy solitaire rings would be glad to help.

Online portals dedicated to the cause of selling exquisite diamond rings and other pieces of jewelry to match your custom needs, have exhaustive catalogs to meet the requirements of all buyers. Once you have these glittering gems in your hand and know the right sources to get them crafted-you need to get further insights into how to keep them looking as good as new.

In simpler words, you need to be well educated about how to take care of your precious diamonds.

Why Diamond Jewelry Pieces Need Care

It's just not enough to Buy Diamonds for Women; you need to understand that diamond collects grime and dust which makes it lose its luster. Regardless of whether the ring is worn on special occasions or daily to work, it has a tendency to capture pollutants which make it appear dull and not worthy of a second look. What do you do?

Remember to take them Off

Diamonds are precious. Proper care and awareness make them last through generations. So remember to take them off the right time. For example, if you are doing rough work in the garden or kneading the dough in the kitchen, taking a pause to keep your ring aside will alleviate all chances of dirt/food particle entering into jewelry piece on your hands.

You must even take care while working with chemicals. Undoubtedly the hardest substance on the face of this earth, diamonds are also prone to accidental chipping. You may end up losing your valuable stones if the grooves of your diamonds are not fitted properly.

Chemical elements and compounds of the likes of Chlorine can snatch away the shine from your diamond-so remember to take them off while using detergents during washing clothes/utensils or while taking a dip in highly chlorinated water.

Prong set diamonds are prone to attracting greater levels of grime than their other counterparts which boast of channel or bezel setting. So, if you have chosen to design your loose diamonds in the prong-set way, then be prepared for longer sessions of cleaning.

How to Clean your Diamonds

Are your diamonds tarnished with harmless dirt or smudges?

Just soak them in water which contains a mild detergent and leave aside. Use an eyebrow or other brush to dislodge the last traces of embedded dirt and rinse off with cold water. You should use a soft cloth to dry the jewel thoroughly. However, you should refrain from washing your jewelry under running water-as you may just see it vanishing down the drain!

Jewelry pieces which have loose settings or require more intense cleaning processes should be delegated into professional hands. Regular cleaning processes make your diamonds appear shiny and increase their intrinsic worth-in more ways than one.

Advantages to buy diamonds for women for solitaire and multi stone rings

When it comes to buy diamonds for women, one of the most difficult decisions to make is to choose between a multi-stone and a classic ring for engagement. Most couples don't have the idea which one to choose. The eventual ring that anyone chooses must signify the love between the couple.

The first thing is to find where to buy solitaire rings that fall within your budget. Check the online store to evaluate the different types of rings and diamonds they have. One of the best ways to determine what your spouse will like is to ask his/her friends. They can give reliable suggestions about the type of diamond ring that your spouse has loved since childhood.

The popularity of multi-stone rings is increasing and according to industry experts, they are more in demand because of their variety. You could get multi-diamond engagement rings designed in a unique way that there wouldn't be another copy anywhere in the world. You can change the size of the different stones, chose different stones and work around with the overall design to create something that only your spouse would have on his/her finger. The choice of the stones can range from the birthstone to your spouse's favorite stone.

Whether you are choosing women's or Mens Wedding Bands, multi-stone engagement rings could symbolize a wide range of signs. For example, if you choose a 3-stone ring, it will stand for trinity. This could be the symbol of love, fidelity and friendship, or the past, present and the future of the loving relationship.

When you have decided to Buy Diamonds for Women, you will realize that multi-stone rings can prove to be relatively more inexpensive. You could vary the diamonds to choose affordable stones without ever compromising on quality. You could even fit a gemstone in the center and place diamonds around it. This could help create a stunning ring that will have a deeper meaning and fit your budget at the same time. Creating such multi-stone Mens wedding bands will have symbolism, personality and variety.

However, when it comes to having a diamond ring that has both grace and style, there is nothing like the traditional solitaire ring. The single-diamond ring has a timeless enigma to it that will always remain in style. The diamond is the center of attention in the solitaire ring, and the key to perfect piece for you is to determine the best place where to buy solitaire rings. In addition, there are many other reasons why these classic engagement rings are so sought after. Such a ring is more practical, can be worn with any dress and always tells about itself that it is the engagement ring.

Thus, there are benefits of choosing both solitaire and multi-diamond rings. However, each one has its own set of importance.

The History of Loose Diamonds

There has been a lot of talk lately about loose diamonds. With the popularity of hand crafted fine jewelry at an all-time high, more and more people are learning what they can about the process of creating jewelry and the materials that are involved. Part of the offshoot of that has been a news commodities market as people are looking at the gem stones and precious metals not just as items of beauty but also tools for investments. People are now taking money from more traditional interest bearing items-stocks and bonds, mutual funds, I.R.A.'s-and investing in the raw materials themselves. Many people will try to make you believe that this is something new, as if diamonds have always come already mounted in the jewelry. The fact is the history behind diamonds as things other than just jewelry goes back hundreds of years.

The first part of their story is the most shocking to people. Today people believe that diamonds come almost exclusively from South Africa with a small secondary source in South America. Actually, diamonds were first used on the Silk Road as far back as 300 AD. The diamonds were mined in Indian and traded in China, where people there would use them for many different purposes, decoration being only one small part. Because of hard diamonds are, they worked very effectively as cutting tools.

The trade route ran both directions out of India, and diamonds became more and more popular in Europe. Some of the uses there were similar to those that the Chinese were using, and some of the uses were a little more out there. People believed that diamonds had healing and restorative powers, so the wealthy would swallow them in order to feel better. (Think about that next time you accidentally drop a quarter in a sewer grate.)

By the fourteenth century diamonds were being recognized for their value by all classes of the population. In order to buy diamond, it became necessary to visit the local diamond markets that have been established in the major European cities. India continued to hold a monopoly on the mining of diamonds for several decades until a deposit was found in Brazil in 1725. One hundred and forty years later a dramatically larger find was discovered in South Africa. Large scale mining started five years later and so many diamonds were unearthed that the market quickly flooded, prices plummeted and other gem stones started to be favored. It wasn't until the middle part of the twentieth century and for simple words-"A Diamond is Forever"-that diamonds regained their rightful place.

Where to Buy Diamonds? Three Things to Consider

When any one need to buy diamonds, the first place that comes to consideration are of course their local jewelers. Any other alternative is considered and explored only after exhausting the local jewelers. In present time, an online jewelry store could also be the local jeweler for many. However, considering on the traditional lines, the local jeweler is the one who is supplying gold and diamond jewelry to the family for say at least a generation.

The trust quotient for such shops is so high that the products once bought from these shops are rarely tested. The shop owners know the fact and exploit the customers to the hilt. Then, people might argue a way out of such situation. The way out is to explore some other avenues from where to buy diamonds. There are certainly lots of better places to buy the precious gem. However, the three things that are necessary to be considered in deciding Where to Buy Diamond are as follows.

Availability

The availability of the desired product is a must. The place from where you decide to buy diamonds for women should have the exact piece of stone or the jewelry made out of it. There is no escape to it, despite the shop owner convincing you that the product he is offering is much better and woe your love for you.

Quality

The quality of the gem is undisputable. You cannot settle for anything off standard and still end up paying a premium price. Other than local jewelers the pawn shops do claim to have authentic pieces. But, until and unless they have certification of quality and the price is in your budget, it is not advisable to purchase such stones or Mens Wedding Bands. The certification of quality and valuation papers should be authenticated from a genuine appreciator, even better from a government certified appreciator of the gems and jewelry.

Cost

Regardless of the place or the shop, online or a physical store, from where you intend to make the purchase, it is must that you pay what your budget allows. Investment and gift should not be a burden to your financial health. Further, the piece of gem you are to choose should be available at a genuine cost. If not it is better to explore some more venues.

All of the three aforementioned factors that are to be considered in deciding the place from where to buy diamond stand equally true for deciding the place from where to buy gold and other jewelry. Though the list is not exhaustive, but it does deal with major concerns.

Further, considering, online jewelry stores as an option to buy diamonds for women is one of the safest and most viable options. People who have explored this option have realized the additional benefits that come with the process of buying jewelry and other precious stones from online stores.

Diamonds Studs and Earnings with Celebrity Style and Colors

All women love to render their appearance more attractive through several eye catching accessories. Earrings in particular are used by most women to enhance their looks. We all like to wear earrings on a daily basis, and for special occasions, we wish to flaunt our unique sense of style by choosing earrings that are glamorous, glitzy and highly fashionable. These are the words that describe celebrity style earrings. They are particularly fond of dangling earrings, studded with beautiful diamonds and expensive gemstones.

How to afford celebrity earrings?

The biggest question pestering women is never what design of diamond studs they want. Looking up magazines and Internet is enough to find thousands of celebrity earrings. The main question is how to afford them.

Remember that most celebrities may actually never pay for the jewelry they wear. It's is trade-off between designers and celebrities. Designers get free publicity, while celebrities get a chance to wear some of the most expensive diamond.

But, common folks like you and me have no one for such bargaining. So how do we afford celebrity stud diamonds? With the coming up of a number of jewelry retailers online, the task has become quite simple. Search the net for affordable celebrity diamond earrings, and a number of portals that sell close diamond imitations of the same designs will appear. In fact, the variety of celebrity style earrings available over the Internet is so vast that making a choice is not easy. You can keep browsing for hours, liking design after design, and not achieve satisfaction.

What makes celebrity earrings affordable?

There are a number of reasons that make imitation jewelry far less expensive than original celebrity jewelry without compromising on the looks. Some of these reasons are:

Jewelers on the Internet usually copy designer jewelry to make inexpensive versions of the same, with slight alterations that easily go unnoticed.

Carefully choose the diamond stud size as it can potentially make a big difference to the money you are going to shell from your pockets.

Unless you are not dating a jewelry connoisseur, you can settle for cheaper metal alternatives. This means that instead of going for solid gold studs (which are relatively expensive), one can choose gold plated earrings, that hardly look much different. Similarly, you can replace platinum and white gold with silver sterling.

If you're going to wear the earrings daily, then choose a smaller diamond earring size. In addition to this, you may even replace the diamond with other less expensive, but equally charming gemstones such as rubies, sapphires and emeralds.

Above all the Internet is the biggest market for purchasing the best celebrity jewelry including necklaces, pendents and more. Several well known portals serve the needs of the common man; you can search yourself or ask for suggestions from friends as well.

Hope this article will help you in a good way if you have any doubts kindly contact at Cutratediamonds.com . We will be more than happy to clear your doubts. We have lots of knowledge on diamonds studs and earnings and always ready to answer your questions.

Collection of antique and estate one-stone engagement rings from the antique jewelry collection of www.adin.beCollection of antique and estate eternity bands from the antique jewelry collection of www.adin.be
(click the picture for our one-stone rings)   (click the picture for our eternity bands)

Although it is said that the tradition of diamond engagement rings and eternity bands go back a few thousand years, it was not till the mid Twentieth Century that they became the tradition we now know them to be. How they became part of a tradition is, all sugar-sweet stories of romance and ever-lasting-love aside, an interesting story.

In the late 1930's de Beers, the then world monopolist for diamonds, in an attempt to reduce their growing stock of diamonds, started a now historic advertising campaign. Out of the need to sell the bulk of their "big" stones the idea of proposing marriage with a one-diamond engagement ring was born. Before that there simply wasn't a link between a marriage proposal and a one-stone-diamond ring.

Some twenty years later de Beers had a (secret) agreement with the former Soviet Union as sole channel for diamonds found there. The diamonds coming from Russia, although being better in quality, were much smaller in size. And what was better to get rid of a lot of smaller diamonds in one time? And thus the eternity band was born.

Smashing Art Deco Brooch

Smashing Art Deco Brooch

Platinum Art Deco brooch with over 9 carat diamonds from the Art Deco jewelry collection of www.adin.be
(Click the picture to get to this smashing Art Deco brooch. )

One smashing Art Deco brooch we have here. Made in platinum and set with no less than 9 carats of high quality brilliant cut diamonds.

Art Deco is an eclectic artistic and design style which had its origins in Paris in the first decades of the 20th century. The style originated in the 1920s and continued to be employed until after World War II. The term "art deco" first saw wide use after an exhibition in 1966, referring to the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes that was the culmination of high-end style moderne in Paris. Led by the best designers in the decorative arts such as fashion, and interior design, Art Deco affected all areas of design throughout the 1920s and 1930s, including architecture and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as painting, the graphic arts and film. At the time, this style was seen as elegant, glamorous, functional and modern.

In the Art Deco period, abstract motives and geometrical forms are quite typical. Art Deco moved away from the soft pastels and organic forms of its style predecessor, Art Nouveau, and embraced influences from many different styles and movements of the early 20th century, including Neoclassical, Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, and Futurism. Its popularity peaked in Europe during the Roaring Twenties and continued strongly in the United States through the 1930s. Although many design movements have political or philosophical roots or intentions, Art Deco was purely decorative.

Antwerp, October 03 (Reuters) — Botanists at Adin, Antwerp - Belgium have just announced the discovery of a new plant species in a remote area in The Garden of Adin. They say this underscores the importance of conservation efforts in the ancient tropical forests of the region. Lead author and researcher Elkan Wijnberg at Adin Antique Jewelry suggested that it will be named “Adinus Solis Viridis Bacchus”.

According to Adin experts, the species is at risk from extraction. However, local authorities -- in particular the Garden of Adin Forest Protection Department -- have committed to conserve and sustainably manage this valuable plant (and will only sell it to the true collector).

Diamonds jewelry

Why Historical Jewelry?

What can historical jewelry tell us about the past? This huge topic embraces both different cultures and different historical ?poques dating from prehistory to the start of the 20th century.

From finds from prehistoric graves and caves dating back 25.000 years we know that people since the dawn of time has used ornament made of bone, amber and shells to decorate themselves. But it is from the civilizations like the Sumerian's and Egyptian 7.000 years ago that we learn to connect jewelry with culture. This is because of words and symbols, inscribed in stones, written on papyrus or engravings on precious stones.

Necklace Of The Spanish Inquisition

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0b/Spanish_Inquisition_Necklace.jpg

The Spanish Inquisition Necklace is a diamond and emerald-studded necklace. As of 2008, it is on display at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., United States. It was given its name by Harry Winston, the American jeweller who acquired it from the Maharaja of Indore, and has no known connection with the historical Spanish Inquisition.

Provenance

The emeralds threaded onto the necklace were originally mined in Colombia. The diamonds were mined in India. While the necklace's gemstones are believed to have been cut in India in the 17th century, the early history of the necklace itself is unknown. American jeweller Harry Winston, who named the necklace, claimed that it was owned first by Spanish royalty. However, the first recorded owner of the piece was Tukoji Rao III, Maharaja of Indore, then a Princely State within India, in the early 20th century. Upon his abdication, the necklace was passed to his son, Yashvantrao II, who took up his father's throne.

In 1947, Yashvantrao sold the necklace to Harry Winston. Winston loaned the necklace out that year to actress Katharine Hepburn, who wore it to the 19th Academy Awards ceremony. The necklace formed part of Winston's "Court of Jewels", a nationally touring exhibition of jewels and jewellery including the Hope Diamond and the Star of the East. In 1955, Winston sold the necklace to Cora Hubbard Williams of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Williams held the necklace until 1972, when she bequeathed it to the Smithsonian Institution. Since then, it has been on display in the Janet Annenberg Hooker Hall of Geology, Gems and Minerals of the National Museum of Natural History in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.

Design

The upper half of the necklace consists of many small diamonds threaded onto a silver chain. The lower half of the necklace is divided into two concentric semi-circular strands, each carrying eight pairs of "football-shaped" diamonds and four pairs of barrel-cut emeralds, arranged symmetrically. The centre of the lower strand holds a large emerald supporting a pendant which itself holds five smaller emeralds. The point where the upper and lower halves of the necklace join is marked by two large emeralds threaded onto the chain. Altogether, there are 15 emeralds and 374 diamonds in the necklace. The diamonds of the Spanish Inquisition Necklace are the oldest examples of cut diamonds in the Smithsonian Institution's National Gem Collection.

Diamonds in the Chemical Perspective

alt text

BSN Stock Photo

When we hear of the word diamond, we immediately associate it with a worldly and expensive piece of jewellery. Diamond is indeed precious. It has outstanding characteristics that would be envied by other minerals and gemstones. Let us take a closer look at a diamond’s features.

In its chemical structure, the chemical formula for diamond is just plain “C”. This is because a diamond’s molecule is made up of multiple atoms of Carbon which are tightly yet systematically arranged in covalent bonds. This arrangement makes it a very stable molecule. The fact that diamond are only made up of only one type of element makes it the hardest naturally occurring mineral on earth. In the Mohs hardness scale for minerals, diamonds is given the lone perfect ‘10’. The second hardest mineral considered is the gemstone Sapphire which has a chemical formula of “Al2O3”.

The Hessen Affair (movie)

The winner takes it all... and more

At the end of World War II, the biggest jewel theft in history turns into a bloodbath when thieves fall out in a thriller with echoes of DOUBLE INDEMNITY and BODY HEAT.

1945 - Castle Kronberg, outside Frankfurt, is turned into a ‘country club’ for victorious American officers. Outside, the country is starving, but within the castle walls, young Americans who have never been away from ordinary homes and jobs, find themselves jitterbugging the nights away in a palace where they are the conquerors ...

Princess Sophie of Hesse, the castle’s owner, fled hours before the arrival of the Yanks. She didn’t have time to move or conceal all the castle’s treasures. Most of the dazzled young officers confine themselves to swiping the silverware ...

But two, smarter and more determined than the rest – the cynical COLONEL JACK DURANT and the dazzling beautiful LIEUTENANT KATHLEEN NASH – have other ideas. While Glenn Miller foxtrots thump overhead in the ballroom, Durant and Nash bump into each other in the basement, armed with pickaxes and a mutual curiosity to find whatever else the princess might have left behind ...

And they do ...

Nash and Durant uncover the crown jewels of Germany – more diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires and pearls than are gathered in any one place outside the Tower of London. The value is beyond anyone’s ability to compute. The discovery ignites a sexual frenzy between Nash and Durant, who decide to steal the jewels – to the victors go the spoils.

Nash and Durant manage to get the gems to New York, where they must deal with gangsters to fence the loot. They are out of their league and must use their wits when dealing with someone like Ben Cassidy, builder of the new Las Vegas and owner of the New York Yankees.

But Cassidy and his cronies have never been presented with such a hoard as this. And it isn’t long before everyone gets greedy. The body count begins to mount around Nash and Durant.

To make matters worse for the two renegade officers, Princess Sophie discovers the theft of her jewels and complains to American army headquarters. It now turns out that her brother fought for the Allies and is about to marry the future Queen of England, Elizabeth! That’s right, Sophie’s brother is Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
