Vintage Sapphire Jewelry She’ll Adore for Christmas!

You know the sapphire for its celebrated blue color. Perhaps the most famous sapphire in recent history was worn on the finger of Lady Diana Spencer. Since throughout antiquity the stone has been associated with royalty, steadfastness, romance and honesty, it made perfect sense for His Royal Highness Prince Charles to slip it onto his fiancée’s finger.

Of course, the sapphire was also quite popular with the clergy. Symbolizing heaven, this stone was worn not only for its deep blue shades but also for the belief that the stone had the power to help a learned man increase his abilities of discernment. Of course, collectors have long loved the sapphire for its elegant sparkle and ease of wear with diamond pieces.

Peter Suchy Jewelers offer a number of Christmas vintage sapphires she’ll adore for sure:

Deep Blue Sapphire and Diamond Ring

If you are not quite ready for an engagement but want to give the lady in your life a friendship ring to cement the bonds, opt for this 14k solid yellow gold ring. The main stone weighs .35cts and is an oval sapphire. It is surrounded by 10 round diamonds weighing .10cts. Creating the illusion of a delicate flower, this vintage sapphire ring looks gorgeous on her finger.

Art Deco Platinum Ring with Sapphire and Diamonds

For the Art Deco lover, there is this vintage 1940s ringfashioned from durable platinum. This ring is unique and the design so distinct that it is sure to turn heads. The main gemstone is a genuine blue sapphire weighing 1.0cts. It is accentuated with a dome pave section set with 29 diamonds weighing .30cts. This is an amazing piece that you have to see to believe.

Tiffany & Co. Flower Pin with Sapphires and Diamond

Resembling a beautiful open flower, this Tiffany piece features 18k yellow gold for the setting material. We have dated the pin to the 1960s. A round center diamond weighs .10cts. It is surrounded by five round sapphires weighing 1.40cts. The workmanship of the petals is striking. This pin is a suitable accessory for the office or for a night out.

Sapphire and Diamond Heart Pendant

This pendant is made from 18k solid white gold. Shaped as a heart with a checkerboard design, 19 bright blue sapphires weighing .57cts are set at the hearts of the interconnecting lines. Forty-eight round diamonds weighing .30cts surround the heart shape.

Emerald-Cut Sapphire and Diamond Ring

Set in 14k yellow gold, this cocktail ring serves as the perfect setting for three emerald-cut sapphires weighing .50cts. They are accessorized with two full-cut diamonds weighing .12cts. The baguette look of the sapphires adds to the reflective nature of these deep blue gemstones. If she is in need of a main part for her sapphire jewelry ensemble, this is the ring of choice.

Blast From the Past Vintage Engagement Rings

Retro is always cool. Every year, it's a slightly younger retro, but that's mostly irrelevant. Especially today, in the shadows of a recovering economy, re-using old anything is incredibly popular. Vintage esthetics are really big right now, so it only makes sense that vintage engagement rings are a growing section of the market. After all, who doesn't like having a story to their ring?

Of course, many vintage rings are passed down, from parents and grandparents, but that's not your only option. Companies are cropping up and, indeed, have existed for years, that trawl estate sales, looking for unique pieces. Engagement rings, wedding bands, all sorts of fine jewelry slip through the cracks of unclaimed goods, and it's really a shame. So many beautiful pieces, slaved over by hand by some jeweler who is now long gone, are shoved into a drawer somewhere, never to be appreciated again.

It's easy to see the appeal of vintage jewelry from an artistic perspective. After all, who doesn't appreciate a little art noveau in their lives? If you don't, it's because you haven't seen these blocky, solid, paneled pieces of glory. If that's not your style, there was a huge boom in art deco style rings at the beginning of the Baby Boomers, which means that there is a steady supply of these marvelously blended ideas of luxury and technological progress.

Fine jewelry, especially pieces that evoke vintage pieces, cost a pretty penny. The benefit, at least to the shopper, of finding real vintage jewelry is immense savings. A brand new engagement ring can cost thousands of dollars in order to acquire something unique. Each engagement ring you find at a vintage vendor, or especially if you dig through estate sales yourself, comes with a wealth of stories. These rings are symbols that love does go on, that this is a cycle without end. People will always fall in love and be willing to commit to each other. There's also an added benefit of having a ring that no one else will have. Uniqueness is a large factor in the cost of engagement rings, after all.

So, please consider a vintage engagement ring when you go out shopping. Many classic designs are laid by the wayside in the name of progress, and this is a shame no matter from whose perspective you consider it. After all, how often do you get to feel like you're building into history? Just imagine who might have that ring when you're done with it, the kind of treasure it will be in their time.
