Vintage Jewelry Where Five Carats Never Looked So Good!

Are you shopping for the perfect holiday or birthday gift? Are you tired of finding jewelry with small gemstones? Do you want a larger stone but not spend a fortune on diamonds? If so, Peter Suchy has exactly what you are looking for. Our gemstones measuring 5.00cts never looked so good.

Gold Dangle Earrings with Pink Tourmaline

The dangle earrings are set with 18k solid yellow gold. The pink watermelon tourmaline weighs in at 5.00cts. Look closely, and you notice the light pink edges that gradually darken until the centers reach a light green coloration. Due to the unique shape of these gemstones, they are certain to draw the eye of everyone in the room. If you are buying for a teenager, opt for these pieces to start her on the road to her own jewelry collection.

Gold Ring with Rare Red and Blue Flash Opal

The artisan chose 14k yellow gold for the setting material of this solitaire ring. The opal weighs in at 5.00cts and has the rare orange-red and blue flash coloration that beautifully offsets the gold of the prongs. This stone has an amazing fire and it is easy to lose yourself in the contemplation of the gemstone. If she loves opals, this is a ring you cannot afford to pass up.

Gold Ring with Diamonds, Emeralds and Rubies

Solid 18k white gold makes up the setting for this cocktail ring. A total of 46 ruby beads measuring between 2mm and 3mm weigh in at a combined 5.00cts. They are accentuated by 30 round full-cut diamonds weighing .25cts, 10 round faceted rubies weighing .10cts and four round faceted emeralds weighing .05cts. The rubies surround the ring while the diamonds create visual counterpoints. This is a gorgeous piece that easily becomes the focal point of any jewelry ensemble.

Gold Seidengang Flip Ring with Cameo and Amethyst

This Seidengang piece is part of the Classic Collection. The jewelry maker chose 18k solid yellow gold as the setting material for the flip ring. On the one side is a 5.00cts oval amethyst in a cabochon cut. Two green tourmalines accentuate the sides. They weigh in at .40cts. On the other side of the flip top is a gold cameo featuring a classic figure in repose.

Gold Earrings Featuring Sapphires

The setting is made of 14k white gold. A total of 72 square sapphires weigh in at 5.00cts and bring light blue coloration and plenty of sparkle to the table. These earrings are made for pierced lobes. If the lady on your gift list loves the natural blue of the sapphire, this is a set of earrings that she is sure to love.

Give Her a Vintage Red Jewel to Wear Under the Mistletoe

If you anticipate following Washington Irving’s description of claiming the kissing privilege under the mistletoe this year, why not give your special someone a gift of a vintage red jewel? Not only does it harmonize beautifully with the colors of the mistletoe berries and leaves, but it is one of the colors of the Christmas season! Peter Suchy Jewelers offers a number of breathtaking gems that fit the bill. Here are some of our favorite vintage red jewels (and they are not all rubies!).

Gold Earrings Featuring Rubies and Diamonds

Solid 14k yellow gold is the setting material for these earrings that are designed to be worn by those with pierced lobes. Blood-red rubies in a pear shape are the focal gemstones. Each ruby – both together weigh .95cts – is surrounded by 11 round diamonds that add tremendous sparkle to the jewels. The combined weight of the 22 diamonds is .60cts. Imagine the sparkle of these earrings during a candlelit Christmas dinner!

Buckle-style Ring with Garnets and Pearls

The artisan has chosen 14k solid yellow gold for this ring. Due to the design elements, we date this ring to the 1950s. Thirty bright red garnets measure between 1mm and 1.5mm each. Weighing .40cts, they show off the gold of the setting. Eight cultured half pearls make up the buckle portion. They measure between 3mm and 4mm each. This is a striking ring that will turn plenty of heads.

Rose Gold Ring with a Cabochon-cut Coral

When only a cocktail ring will do, make it one fashioned from gorgeous rose gold. Our experts date this ring to the 1930s. It features an oval cabochon-cut red coral measuring 20mm by 12mm. The coral beautifully underscores the colors of the Christmas season. It is a focal point for a jewelry ensemble.

Platinum Art Deco Ring with Spinel and Diamonds

You already know that the Art Deco era loved the use of platinum in all types of jewelry. This unusual ring showcases the typical Art Deco style elements. We date the jewel to the 1930s. The center stone is a spinel weighing in at 1.54cts and featuring a cushion cut. It is accentuated by six single-cut diamonds weighing .06cts. The orange-red hues of the spinel make for an amazing display of fiery red hues under changing light conditions.

Red Coral Flower Set in a Rose Gold Pendant

Make your declaration of love official this Christmas by handing her a red rose that will never wilt. The artisan used a 14k pink gold setting to hold a deep red coral center. It features an intricately carved rose. The diameter of the pendant is 23mm. It hangs from a 16-inch chain. If she is wearing green this holiday, this piece is going to set an eye-catching contrast.

Give Your December Birthday Gal a Turquoise Ring!

No other gemstone is as easy to identify as the turquoise. It has graced the brows of kings and the fingers of international royalty. Native American artisans have crafted striking jewelry pieces using the green-blue stone. The origin of the stone determines the color, the amount of veining and the added hues that make some specimens unique.

If you are shopping for a December birthday gal, this gemstone is a natural fit. Peter Suchy has a number of beautiful pieces in stock that are sure to take her breath away.

Art Deco Pink Gold, Turquoise and Onyx Ring

The black color of the onyx plays off the black veining of the turquoise. Artisans chose 14k pink gold for the setting material of this two-stone ring. Due to the Art Deco elements that are clearly present in this jewel, we date this piece to the 1940s. This is a ring that calls attention to the wearer.

Italian Flower Ring Featuring a Turquoise Center

The solitaire is set in a 14k yellow gold setting. The color of the turquoise is bright blue. We know that the stone is untreated and the color is authentic. An absence of black veins heightens the beauty of the round stone. Made in Italy, the setting material is shaped like a flower. If you are in the market for a truly beautiful piece that would perfectly underscore bohemian chic, this is the ring to buy.

Akoya Pearl Ring with Turquoise Center in Gold Setting

Held securely in place by a 14k yellow gold setting is a bright blue cabochon-cut turquoise measuring 17.4mm by 13.4mm. It is haloed by 18 Akoya pearls measuring 2.5mm each. A slight darkening of the stone’s center adds drama to this striking piece.

Victorian Gold and Silver Ring Featuring Persian Turquoise

For the connoisseur of all things turquoise, there is nothing finer than Persian turquoise. This Victorian piece – we date it to the 1850s – features 38 of these gemstones measuring between 2.0mm to 3.5mm. The Setting material consists of 9k yellow gold as well as silver. If your birthday gal already has some Persian turquoise in her collection, be sure to get this piece!

Gold Ring with Rubies, Diamonds and Persian Turquoise

A vintage ring of the finest kind, this piece is made of 14k solid yellow gold. Six oval Persian turquoise beads are the stones that demand the most attention. Their combined weight is about 1.80cts. Their beauty is accentuated by seven oval red rubies weighing 2.10cts and six round diamonds weighing .18cts. The setting features a rope-like design. When you are shopping for a gal who does not yet have Persian turquoise, this is a great choice.

Our Favorite Vintage Sterling Silver and Silver Jewelry

Although gold and platinum are very common setting materials for vintage jewelry, the use of sterling silver is somewhat less widespread. Silversmiths define this material as an alloy of silver that must contain precisely 92.5 percent of silver and a remaining 7.5 percent of another metal. Examples include platinum, zinc or the much more common copper.

If you have been looking for silver jewelry but have not found a good selection of available pieces, look no further than Peter Suchy Jewelers. We have a sizable inventory of silver jewelry. Here are our favorite pieces.

Victorian Gold and Silver Pin with Sapphire and Diamonds

This Victorian pin was made between 1840 and 1860. The base material is 14k gold but the top features silver. An oval sapphire is the centerpiece. It weighs in at 2.0cts. A total of 42 old-mine-cut diamonds encrust the top of the pin. Intricate detail work draws the eye to the center of the pin. This is a pin for every occasion.

Silver and Gold Cable Ring with Iolite

The cocktail ring’s setting is partially made from 14k solid yellow gold. This metal is twisted together with silver for a rope-like look. A total of six square-cut iolites bring purple and blue colors to the table.

Yellow Gold and Silver Art Deco Pendant

We date this striking pendant to the 1920s. The setting material is 18k yellow gold that has been mixed with silver. An untreated round aqua weighing .76cts is the center piece. Eight diamonds – four of which are full-cut – weigh in at .40cts. The geometric shapes of the Art Deco period are beautifully displayed in this piece.

Georg Jensen Bird Pin

Denmark’s designer Georg Jensen fashioned this sterling silver bird pin. Weighing 11.9 grams, this whimsical piece features a natural patina that adds plenty of character to the piece. The silver has been worked carefully to mimic the movement associated with a bird in flight.

Georg Jensen Silver Bracelet with Moonstones

Nothing highlights the nature of silver better than the moonstone. Designer Georg Jensen knows this quite well. This bracelet is fashioned from sterling silver. It features four oval moonstones weighing 3.00cts and four round moonstones weighing 1.60cts. The silversmith has provided the illusion of feathers, leaves and flowers with the silver material.

Peter Suchy has a lot of vintage sterling silver jewelry available. Whether you are looking for a gift or just want to treat yourself to something nice, our prices can't be beat!
