Citrine – the Other November Birthstone!

Citrine is a type of quartz that is noted for its yellow and brown hues. It is rather uncommon to find a natural citrine. In fact, the majority of citrines currently on the market are actually amethysts or smoky quartz varieties that have undergone a heat treatment to affect the coveted yellow coloration. During the heyday of Hollywood, stars like Greta Garbo were noted for wearing sizable citrines in elaborate Art Deco settings.

Peter Suchy knows that you love the earthy quality of the citrine and its association with a variety of silver screen legends. We offer a wide variety of untreated genuine vintage citrine pieces that are sure to tickle your fancy.

Gold Pin Featuring an Untreated Citrine and Seed Pearls

The setting for this pin is 14k pink gold. It holds a naturally golden-yellow citrine measuring a respectable 32mm by 25mm. It is surrounded by 46 stunning seed pearls. The bezel of the gemstone beautifully reflects the lights. This is the kind of pin to wear with any type of clothing that complements earth tones.

Vintage Gold Citrine Flower Earrings

Made for pierced ears, the setting material of these earrings is 18k yellow gold. Two onyx beads serve as stigmas while 12 orange-yellow natural citrines – weighing 27.00cts – make up the petals. These are attractive pieces that capture and reflect the light in a striking manner.

Yellow Gold Art Deco Ring with an Orange Yellow Citrine

The 18k yellow gold setting holds a vintage 13.30 carat natural yellow citrine with orange hues. The emerald cut of the gemstone shows off the beauty of this quartz. The Art Deco design has resulted in the stunning craftsmanship of the setting material. Wear this ring when you want to command the attention of the room.

Vintage Gold Ring with Yellow Citrine

A cocktail ring by design, the artisans used 18k solid yellow gold for the setting material. The 6.0ct golden yellow citrine has been shaped with the help of an old-European cut. The stone’s color and the ring’s design are accentuated by 24 round diamonds that weigh .36cts. We are confident that this citrine is untreated and dates to the time period between 1920 and 1940.

Vintage Orange Citrine and Diamond Earrings

The setting material is 14k yellow gold. Made for pierced ears, the settings hold two emerald-cut Madera citrines weighing 14.53 carats. They are surrounded by 10 full-cut diamonds weighing .35ts. These earrings look gorgeous and complete your wardrobe for any occasion.

Do Gemstones Have Healing Powers?

Over the course of the centuries, gemstone lovers did not just appreciate the beautiful cuts, dazzling colors and gorgeous appearances of gemstones. There are a variety of tales and folklore accounts that ascribe healing powers to numerous gems. From ancient healers to modern shamans, energy therapists have long held the belief that every gemstone has a unique energy pattern that interacts with the human body’s energy field.

Agate. The agateis believed to counteract stomach upsets. Since it is said to attract strength, it also protects against stress, bad dreams and tiredness.

Amethyst. If insomnia is a problem, the amethyst may be able to get you some sound sleep. It also relieves joint pain and deals with problems in the circulatory system.

Carnelian. Do you know someone with a dour disposition? Give your friend a carnelian pendant. This gem protects from moodiness, fits of rage and financial losses.

Citrine.Promising you abundance, the citrine does not necessarily lead you to more money. Sometimes, this abundance can be friendship, food or contentment. In addition, this stone has been believed to counteract hearing loss.

Emerald. Heal heart problems and eye disease with an emerald. Depending on the lore, you may have to place the stone in a glass of water overnight. When you wake up the next day, wash your eyes with the water.

Peridot.Counteracting the aging process, the peridot also lessens stress and balances out relational harmonies.

It is interesting to note that gemstone healing powers are sometimes believed to be directly related to the quality and cut of the stone. Modern healers warn that gemstones must be of the highest available quality for healing powers to fully flow. Moreover, they argue that plenty of high-quality stones are unsuitable by virtue of their cuts. For best effects, a gem should feature a spherical cut. Working with this type of stone allows the energy to freely flow and mingle with the human body’s energy field.

In the past, some old wives’ tales called for the grinding up and ingestion of certain stones. For example, in the Middle Ages the accidental or deliberate poisoning of foods with deadly herbs, toxic mushrooms and animal venoms was commonplace. While some gemstones might counteract a poison just by having the wearer wave it over the dish in question, amethysts or emeralds had to be ground up and pieces added to the food. Some nobles hedged their bets by having drinking cups and plates made from these gemstones.

Modern energy healers deem that wearing a necklace with a properly cut gemstone delivers the most potent energy. From the neck area, the gem gradually radiates its healing energy throughout the human body. While the process takes a little while to start working, the closeness of the gem to the skin and body makes this therapy easy. Some healers have also begun experimentation with necklaces featuring a mix of gemstones that work together in harmony to address multiple health concerns.
