Vacation Memories of Destin, FL Mini Book

Vacation time for many is just around the corner,
and I have even been thinking about some past
vacations that I would like to put in a mini album.
I took some photos of a mini book that I did last
year to share with you, as well as hoping that it will
inspire me with some ideas for a new book.

The pages of the Destin book are 4 X 6" with 2
D-rings to hold it together. I used library envelopes
throughout as pockets for my photos. The paper I
used for my pages is a "heavy" beach-colored card
stock. Distress inks were used on everything to age
it a little.

The "Why I did this book:" This was a trip that my
friend Sharon, my Sis, and I took to Destin, Florida
in the fall of 1991. I took quite a few pictures, as usual.
I was disappointed to see the photos had "darkened"
a little over the years. Even though the photos were not
especially great, they represented some wonderful
memories I wanted to perserve. The "story" about this
trip is tucked away in envelopes, etc. throughout the book.

I used a neutral printed paper on the covers and
cut a tag from one of the vacation photos to go with it.
The lettering [Sizzix dies] was cut from heavy card
stock for dimension, then coated with Diamond Glaze.

Inside front cover. The "pocket" on this page is a
mini file folder [Acucut die]. I dug around on the web
for some Destin history and printed it to include inside
the folder. The photo is from an old postcard image
I found on the web of the Destin East Pass in the early
50's. The Ivy flourish is a rub-on.

as it looked the year we were there.

Page 2. Nothing special here--just a photo of where
we stayed.

Pages 2 and 3.

Page 3. The library pocket was used to hold a photo
cut out in the shape of a tag [Acucut die]; and a little
pocket on top of that held my journaling.

Page 4. Library pocket holds photo. Cardstock stickers,
and rubons were used to embellish the page.

Pages 4 and 5.

Just a close up of page 5 showing photo cut into a tag
[Sizzix]. Some of the tags had photos on both sides.

Pages 6 and 7.

Page 7: A small velum envelope held the journaling--
the library envelope held photosl.

Pages 8 and 9 with a close up of the journaling for
page 9.

Another photo of page 8. The photo of my Sis was
cut out and attached to the page with pop dots so it
would stand out. She will love that I did that {smile}

Page 10. This page featured a poem about the
beach printed on velum. The tag was a photo of my
sis on the beach getting ready for some "sun" time.

Pages 10 and 11.

Pages 12 and 13. A photo of one of our sunsets on
page 12 with a poem about sunsets on the opposite
page.

Pages 14 and 15. Another poem and photo of
Sandpiper's on the beach early in the morning.

Pages 16 and 17. Another poem [I love poetry] was
printed on velum was placed on top of a photo of sea
oats on the beach. It gave a very nice effect.

Pages 18 and 19.

Page 19. The sugery white sand is beautiful in this
area! The envelope includes the story of the white
sand and "how it happens."

Page 20 and inside back cover. This was a photo
of the bridge just after the sunset on our last night
before going home. Most beautiful! I shall never
forget it.
