All About White Horse Jewelry

The White Horse jewelry line is famous for its equestrian theme and contemporary feel. Designed by Richard and Roz Roney-Dougal, the couple learned the jewelry making trade from the ground up in London. They have worked in Amsterdam and Australia as model makers, designers and diamond setters. When they finally arrived in the United States, they settled in New Mexico where they opened a studio under the name Roney-Dougal Jewelry.

It was not until 2003 that the artisans specialized in the creation of horse-themed pieces. Showing off their creations at horse shows, they made the move to Kentucky, which is the epicenter of the equestrian race and show business. The designers proudly use their own horses as inspirations and models for many of the pieces they create. In addition to jewelry, the couple sells handbags, accessories, home goods and inexpensive gifts.

There are currently seven components to the White Horse jewelry collection:

Stirrups from the Past. Taking the humble stirrup as the motif, the artisans delight their customers with gorgeous pieces in 14-karat gold and silver. These stirrups are miniatures that include replicas of sidesaddle pieces from Peru, children’s pieces and historic offerings from Rajasthan. All stirrups are available as earrings, pendants and charms.

Bracelets. Links are made to resemble bits or horseshoes. Others are carvings that showcase dressage horses or horses in motion.

Pendants. Heads of horses, prancing horses or a horseshoe with a fleur de lis design are just some of the examples you find when perusing the line of pendants.

Necklaces. These necklaces mimic some of the designs found in the bracelet line. One exception is the horseshoe and fox motif. Stones you might find include diamonds, rhodolites, topazes, moonstones and tourmalines.

Cufflinks.Horse-themed cuff links are perfect for the man who is an equestrian at heart. Black and gold show off a Sterling silver framing. Greek coin imitations feature horses and a piece of history.

Earrings.Whimsical saddle horses, horse heads and Celtic coin replicas are just some examples of the earrings you see. Foxes, the fleur de lis and a variety of gems make another appearance as well.

New Jewelry. These new pieces are hot off the designers’ drawings and join the various collections for the first time. An example is a rondelle with stones and a Khalil pendant. The artisans also experiment with Saxon coin pendants on silk cords.

Curiously absent is a collection of horse-themed rings. Of course, there is no telling what Richard and Roz Roney-Dougal come up with for the next new creations that they add to the White Horse jewelry line. Since these pieces are affordable for the majority of buyers, they are perfect for the setup of a collection. Due to the recurring design themes, it is easy to tastefully mix and match earrings, bracelets and other pieces of jewelry.
