Mary Stewart, 1919-1966
This is a photo of my mom and her sister, Donna Jean, sometime in the early 1940's. I always thought my mom and aunt were so beautiful in this photo. That is a big red purse my mom is carrying. I have always liked pretty jewelry and purses--just like her. She didn't have many pieces of jewelry, but she would let my sister and I wear it (when we got older) for special occasions. I felt so beautiful wearing her special necklace and earrings. When she passed away, this and some earrings we had made for her were in a little tin box. The threads have rotted and a chunk of the necklace is gone, but to me it is a priceless treasure. Some day, I will duplicate it in her memory and pass it on to someone to wear "for a very special occasion."
