Michael Dawkins Jewelry Full of Metals and Gems

Most any designer jewelry buyer is familiar with the name Michael Dawkins. This artisan has tireless worked on creating his brand over a span of almost two decades. At a young age, Dawkins chose to pursue industrial design as well as architecture. During his tenure in this setting, he learned to combine the stylistic applications of the disciplines with his unique sense of aesthetics and beauty.

The jewelry maker’s chosen canvases are the classic metals of jewelry making: gold and silver. Combining these metals with diamonds and a wide array of semi-precious stones has led to the creation of a beautiful line of work. What sets apart his pieces from the competition is the process of granulation.

Dawkins is famous for heating metal to the point that it forms miniature bubbles, which he then artistically patterns and connects to the metal base. When combined with the generous use of gems and the continued adherence to straight-line designs, it is no surprise that this jeweler’s work is so easy to spot in a crowd.

The artisan currently has five product lines for sale.

  1. Bracelets. Look for the granulation on link or cuff bracelets. Gems include smoky quartz, blue topaz and citrine. Offsetting these design elements are pearls.
  2. Necklaces. Dawkins counts a vast number of styles among this collection of products. Whether a brown cord holds a smoky quartz, a three-strand necklace holds a citrine, or pearl drops and quartz imitate a charm bracelet look, there is a style for any woman.
  3. Earrings. Although the artisan is not big on studs, there are a few that show off nicely cut gems. By far, his favorite medium is the diamond hoop. It is followed closely by the snakeskin design.
  4. Pendants. Rectangles, ovals and squares are the basic shapes for the pendant designs. Amethysts and crystals are favorite gems. Look for the snakeskin border and the granulation technique, which make these pendants stand out.
  5. Rings. Dawkins favors the cocktail ring design. Since this style is the perfect vehicle for showing off haloed gems, it helps to display cognac quartz, chalcedony and topaz.

It is interesting to note that Michael Dawkins expanded his jewelry empire in 2010 to include a sizable line of home goods and furnishings. Showcasing lines from Cisco Brothers and other environmentally-conscious furniture designers, Dawkins once again brings his eye for style and beauty to the table.

With the one-two punch of designer jewelry and now green furnishings, it is clear that Dawkins will continue to cement his rightful place as a household name for style-conscious American buyers. With a retail area in Miami’s Tony Design District and jewelry sales through Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, Michael Dawkins is easily reachable for any customer.
