Our Favorite Vintage Transitional Cut Rings

When looking at the gemstones featuring a truly transitional cut, you will notice a bit of chunkiness. But this is the good kind of chunky appearance. Not so big as to be off-putting yet big enough to be visually striking, these cuts display what sawing, bruting and rounding can accomplish. Very often, these gemstones were worked on for about five decades after World War I. Thereafter, the modern brilliant cut became quite popular.

Peter Suchy knows that there are plenty of collectors who cannot get enough of transitional cut rings. Good news! We have quite a nice collection to offer you.

Art Deco Diamond Platinum Ring

We date this Art Deco cocktail ring to about 1940. The gemstone is a colorless diamond with a transitional-brilliant cut. Weighing in at .40cts, its sides are polished to a high sparkle. An additional six single-cut diamonds weigh .09cts and provide additional brilliance that makes this piece stand out. If there is an engagement in your future, consider this classic piece.

Vintage Pass-Style Diamond Ring

Also set in platinum, this ring features two transitional-cut diamonds weighing .25cts. Supporting the design are four single-cut diamonds weighing .03cts. We date this piece to the 1940s. It is suitable for daily wear or to dress up for a night out on the town. This would be a beautiful anniversary present.

Brown Diamond Baguette Ring

Platinum is once again the setting material of choice for this cocktail ring. The main gemstone is a transitional-cut diamond displaying a breathtaking mix of orange and brown hues. This classic ring dates back to the decade between 1940 and 1950. Accentuating the beauty of this piece are two baguette-cut diamonds weighing .10cts.

D-Color Almost Flawless Diamond Ring

If there is such a thing as a perfect diamond, this is it. Set in platinum and dated to the 1940s, this 1.01ct gemstone features a rare medium blue florescence that is beautifully brought to the forefront via the transitional cut. It is highly unlikely that you will run across another stone of this caliber anytime soon. Supporting the display are four baguette-cut diamonds weighing .33cts.

Art Deco Sapphire and Diamond Ring

A solitaire with accents, this halo ring shows strong Art Deco influences. Also from the 1940s, it features a round transitional cut diamond weighing 3.29cts. Another 10 full cut diamonds add .15cts and more brilliance. Providing the striking counterpoint are 28 caliber-cut blue sapphires weighing .60cts. This is a conversation starter.
